A Glimpse Of The Wonderful Hidden Object Game Gardenscapes

I hardly ever buy games at full price, but after trying the demo of Gardenscapes I quickly realized that it's worth it. What makes Gardenscapes different from other hidden object games is that it has a unique way of leveling up as you advance through the game.

The game begins with a rundown garden that needs restoration. To get money, you sell off some of the things in your home to the clients. The sooner you find the items that your customer needs, the more money you acquire to buy better things for your garden. So, not only are you racing against the clock to find all the items your customers need, but you are racing to find items as quickly as possible to make the most of your reward.

The settings of the garden you can create are very varied with high-resolution, detailed graphics. Your dog walks in the garden making use of a variety of upgrades while the butler keeps things as necessary. Individual levels contain many objects that move slightly as you move your cursor beyond. There are also special tasks that will ask you to find a number of items like newspaper clippings, golf balls, or trophies. If you are stuck trying to find a particular object, you may ask for a hint which will show the general area where the object is hidden.

You can also look for thermometers and camera in every level to utilize as additional clues. The camera flashes a bright white light which only shows the item that you need although very briefly. The thermometer allows you to identify location of objects by revealing the proximity of the object by temperature. Finding the hidden "question marks" supplies tips that you can also utilize. Gold pieces are scattered throughout each level which increases the size of your reward.

One of the subtle things I like most about this game is that the objects that are to be searched seemed to be placed logically and only few things are hidden somewhere unreasonably. No more comb hidden in the branches, in other words.

I estimated it took 20 to 25 hours to collect all the objects needed to completely restore the garden and finish the game. This brings me to my complaints. First of all, you will need to get back to the same 15 levels multiple times before the game can be completed. Secondly, even if the ending was not what I expected, I would be happier if  there is something unique and rewarding after the game is completed. These are only small complaints, though.

This is a great game to play especially when friends or guests are around because they can help you find items. The game also comes with a built-in screensaver, so you can display your garden even if you are not playing.
